Influential man accused of grabbing ancestral land in Mohammadpur

Staff Reporter:

A family has alleged that a locally influential man forcibly seized their ancestral land in Basila, Mohammadpur.

At a press conference held at the Crime Reporters’ Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) office in Segunbagicha on Saturday, Yasinur Rahman said their family’s four-katha plot was grabbed by one Taslim Uddin, who allegedly broke the boundary wall and constructed a new one around the land on 8 April.

Rahman said the family sought help from law enforcement agencies but received no support.

He also claimed that Taslim, who he identified as an Awami League activist, had used his political influence during the party’s tenure and continues to do so now.

The family appealed to the chief adviser of the interim government for intervention.

When contacted, Taslim Uddin denied the allegations, stating he purchased the land from one Shahdat Hossain.

He also claimed he is not involved with any political party.
