BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has underscored the urgent need to restore the people’s voting rights and democracy in the country at any cost.
“All our efforts to take the country forward will be hindered if the people’s democratic rights are denied. So, we must restore the people’s voting rights and democracy at any cost to this end,” he said on Thursday.
While addressing a workshop virtually from London on his party’s 31-point proposal, arranged by leaders and workers of Dinajpur, Thakurgaon and Panchagarh districts, Tarique said people want an election, but a section of them are deferring with the demand.
Claiming that his party has proposed the 31-point proposal, ignoring the red eyes of the defeated Awami League regime, Tarique said his party must implement the recommendations if it comes to power next with the people’s mandate.
“We must visit one door to the next if we garner people’s votes. We have no alternative but to remain beside the people,” said the BNP leader.
He claimed BNP has done 70 percent of the good deeds in the country and only BNP will be able to do the best for the countrymen if it comes to power.
