Chief Adviser and Chairman of the National Consensus Commission Prof Muhammad Yunus yesterday stressed to take forward the reform works quickly in an effort to national elections in December.
Dr Yunus laid emphasis on discussions with the political parties and took forward with the overall re-form process with the aim of holding national elections in December.
He made this call during a meeting with two members of the Consensus Commission.
As of Saturday, discussions were held with a total of eight political parties.
A meeting with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is scheduled for Thursday, said the Chief Advis-er’s press wing.
The meeting was held at the official residence of the Chief Advisor at state guesthouse Jamuna.
National Consensus Commission Vice-Chairman Prof Ali Riaz and member Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder attended the meeting.
Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor (Consensus Building) Monir Haider was present at the time.
Prof Ali Riaz and Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder informed the Chairman of the Commission about the pro-gress of the National Consensus Commission’s activities.
They said that separate discussions are underway with political parties on the recommendations of vari-ous reform commissions.
They also said that various programs have been taken to gauge public opinion on the reform process and create public awareness about it.
