Bangladesh rescue team continues operations in earthquake-hit Myanmar

The special rescue team sent by the Bangladesh government to expedite the rescue operation in the devastating earthquake-hit Myanmar is continuing its operation.

The natural disaster hit Myanmar on March 28 while the rescue team under the supervision of the Bangladesh Armed Forces went to the country on April 1 following the directive from the Chief Adviser, said a media release sent from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday.

On Friday, search and rescue teams conducted operations in various areas, including Zabuthiri Township in Naypyidaw. In collaboration with the local administration and fire service department, the teams participated in rescue efforts at several collapsed buildings, recovering people trapped under the debris. One body was retrieved during the operation.

Moreover, a coordination meeting was held between the Bangladesh rescue team, Myanmar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the fire service, and representatives from 16 other rescue missions assisting in the relief efforts.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Armed Forces’ medical team provided healthcare services at Naypyidaw’s 50-bed Zabuthiri Hospital and 100-bed Li Wei Hospital, treating victims-affected by the disaster.

Tomorrow (Saturday), the Bangladeshi team will continue rescue and medical operations in coordination with Myanmar’s local administration and fire service.
