July uprising leader among 10 killed in Ctg highway crash

Staff Reporter:

A leader of last year’s uprising against Awami League dictatorship was among the 10 killed in the latest road crash in Jangalia area of Lohagara upazila on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar Highway.

Tanifa Ahmed was the assistant spokesperson at Mirpur Model Police Station area for the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement (ADSM), the student front that led the July-August uprising last year.

ADSM Central Spokesperson Umama Fatema confirmed Tanifa’s death in a facebook post on Thursday.

Tanifa was a key figure in the bold anti-fascist protests against Awami fascism in the capital last year, Umama claimed.

In her facebook post, Umama prayed that the Almighty grant Tanifa the highest place in the afterlife.

On Wednesday morning, Tanifa was killed along with nine others when their microbus collided with a passenger bus at the Jangalia area. This was the third in a series of crashes in the area over the past couple of days.
