The DMP chief also announced the six civilian award recipients would be recruited under the police’s “auxiliary force” to help maintain law and order at designated shopping centres, residential areas and commercial areas in the capital.
The DMP chief praised the six civilian anti-crime “warriors,” adding the people’s earnest support can allow the police to do the utmost in ensuring law and order.
The awarded police personnel are: Dhanmondi Police Station’s Assistant Sub-Inspectors Masud Parvez and Ashraful, as well as Constables Swapan Mia and Rikon Barua.
On Wednesday, the six awarded civilians actively came to the aid of police personnel when robbers attacked them with heavy construction materials to avoid arrest.
The police were attempting to foil the kidnapping of a posh building owner by the miscreants at Dhanmondi. Before the kidnapping attempt, the miscreants also robbed Tk36 lakh and gold ornaments from a jewelery shop, other business establishments, offices, and apartments in the building.
