Although the year marked by genocide is not yet over, the desire for regeneration for Awami League in the country is an ominous sign, said Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan on Friday, hinting about the fellow filling of some political parties, including BNP towards Awami League.
“Since when did we become more inclusively democratic than Germany and Italy? The desire to bring Awami League back to the country is dangerous though the year marked by genocide is yet over,” he said in a post on his verified Facebook this afternoon.
Local Government and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan made the post when students from different organisations staged demonstrations on the Dhaka University campus demanding a ban on Awami League from politics.
Meanwhile, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi raised the question of why the Awami League should not be permitted to engage in politics under the leadership of individuals with a clean reputation.
