In preparation for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations police have issued a security advisory to ensure a safe and smooth holiday for all.
In a statement on Thursday, Police Headquarters urged the public to follow the safety guidelines to ensure the well-being of all travelers and help contribute to a peaceful and enjoyable Eid-ul-Fitr celebration.
For Passengers:
· Plan your travel with sufficient time and prioritise the safety of yourself and your family.
· Avoid urging drivers to drive at high speeds or taking unnecessary risks by traveling on the roof of buses or in goods-carrying vehicles like trucks and pickups.
· Use zebra crossings or foot overbridges when crossing roads. If unavailable, cross the road safely by watching the movement of vehicles and seek police help if needed.
· Refrain from accepting food or drinks from strangers during your journey.
For Bus Owners:
· Do not allow incompetent, tired, or sick drivers to operate buses.
· Ensure drivers adhere to traffic rules and avoid risky overtaking.
· Unfit vehicles should not be allowed on the road.
For Bus Drivers:
· Avoid excessive speeds and risky overtaking.
· Do not drive when tired, exhausted, or sick.
· Ensure you carry all necessary documents, including the driving license, and refrain from carrying extra passengers.
For Launch/Steamer/Speed Boat Passengers:
· Do not take extra passengers or travel on the roof of boats.
· Avoid traveling in adverse weather conditions, as it poses a risk to your life.
· During storms, stay in your place and wear a life jacket when traveling on speedboats.
For Launch/Steamer/Speedboat Owners:
· Operate boats with the specified number and grade of masters and drivers.
· Suspend boat movement during adverse weather conditions and close the master bridge to prevent the free movement of passengers.
· Ensure sufficient buoys are available on the boat.
For Launch/Steamer/Speedboat Drivers:
· Know the weather forecast and only operate the boat if conditions are safe.
· Do not transport goods on the deck where passengers sit.
· Ensure the boat is equipped with buoys and life jackets, and keep emergency communication equipment like mobile phones and radios for weather updates.
· Refrain from operating boats without valid documents and ensure that fire pumps and firefighting equipment are functioning properly.
For Train Passengers:
· Avoid traveling on the roof, buffer, steps, or engine of the train.
· Be cautious about throwing stones while traveling by train and keep your belongings at your own risk.
· Do not travel without tickets.
