Bangladesh Railway will start selling advance intercity train tickets ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr on 14 March and continue it until 20 March.
During the period, passengers can purchase tickets for their journeys from 24 March to 30 March, Railways Secretary Md Fahimul Islam said on Thursday.
Earlier, a preparatory meeting for Eid-ul-Fitr, chaired by BR Director General Md Afzal Hossain, was held at the Railway Bhaban on Tuesday.
According to meeting sources, special trains will be operated on various routes, finalised based on passenger demand, across the country for Eid, but the exact number of these trains has not been confirmed yet.
This time, 35,315 advance tickets will be sold daily from Dhaka during the Eid journey.
The BR director general said, “We held a preparatory meeting today [Tuesday] regarding the sale of advance tickets for Eid. Another meeting will be held on 9 March under the chairmanship of the adviser at the Ministry of Railways, where further details will be provided.”
