Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar, popularly known as CR Abrar, a retired Professor of Dhaka University’s In-ternational Relations (IR) Department has sworn in as the new adviser to the present Interim Govern-ment.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oath to the new advisor at the Bangabhaban Durbar Hall at about 11am yesterday.
Chief Advisor Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus and advisors, leaders of political parties and others were present.
Cabinet Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid conducted the brief ceremony.
After reciting from the holy Quran, a one-minute silence was observed in honour of those who died dur-ing the anti-discrimination students’ movement on the occasion.
Meanwhile, CR Abrar, also a migration expert, is expected to assume charge of the Ministry of Educa-tion, CA’s press secretary Shafiqul Alam told journalists.
