‘Police no more to work for anyone’s agenda’

Rajshahi: Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has cat-egorically said police will no more implement anyone’s agenda as the state is owned by all citizens but not by
any party or any group or community.
He said a new chapter has been created through the July-August students-people anti-discrimination movement and stressed the need for furthermore upholding the pride of the police force with the new spirit.
Jahangir Alam came up with the observation while addressing the passing-out ceremony of the 40th BCS probationary Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) at Bangladesh Police Academy (BPA) at Sardah here yesterday as the chief guest.
The adviser said Bangladesh Police are independent employees of the republic and they abide by some rules and regulations. As employees of the republic Bangladesh Police will work for overall security of the citizens and establish rule of law relentlessly.
He also said that they want to build a police force so that none can face harassment. “You will work for fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the public in general and will prove yourself as peo-ples’ friend and dutiful through your services,” he reminded them.
Jahangir Alam distributed trophies to the best cadets attained on different topics through the train-ing. This year, ASP Ruhul Amin Labu became the best probationer, best academic and best shoot-er while ASP Muhammad Sayelin has done well in field activities and horse riding.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam, BPA Principal Masudur Rahman Bhuiyan, Gen-eral Officer Commanding (GOC) and Area Commander of Bogura Area Major General S M Asadul Haque, Additional IGP Abu Naser Muhammad Khaled, Commissioner of Rajshahi division Khan-daker Azim Ahmed and Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Muhammad Abu Sufiyan were present, among others, on the occasion.
In the passing-out ceremony, 57 ASPs from 40th BCS and three from 38th BCS took part and the chief guest witnessed their parade and received salute.
