BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Imran Saleh Prince has said that the culture of a country cannot be enriched without democracy and stability in society.
“Culture is the identity of a nation and to foster a culture, it is crucial to ensure societal stability, discipline and the development of democracy,” he said while addressing a function in Haluaghat Upazila of Mymensingh on Friday.
Stressing the importance of spreading the library movement across the country, he described the movement as one aimed at creating readers, asserting that libraries should not only be established in every village but in every home.
“A library serves as a university of common people and to overcome the poverty of thought, reading books and promoting libraries is essential. Libraries play a vital role in shaping a knowledgeable nation, while books serve as the primary tool for enlightening a society,” he said.
