The Detective Branch (DB) of police detained actress Meher Afroz Shaon from the capital’s Dhanmondi on Thursday night.
“Shaon was detained on charges of plotting conspiracy against the state. She is currently being taken to the DB office for interrogation”, said Rajaul Karim Mallik, Additional Commissioner (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
“Tomorrow, she will be presented before the court in a specific case and a remand will be sought,” Mallik added.
Earlier, a group of agitating people set fire to the ancestral home of Meher Afroz Shaon, wife of the late Humayun Ahmed.
The incident occurred on Thursday at around 5:00 pm in the area adjacent to Nurundi Railway Station in Jamalpur Sadar Upazila.
