Metro rail authorities request people to avoid Gulshan-2 on Sunday

Staff Reporter:

The authorities of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) have requested people to avoid the Gulshan-2 area of the capital next Sunday (26 January), for the work of the metro rail project.

The request was made in a notification signed by Md Aftab Hossain Khan, project director, on Thursday.

According to the notification, work is underway on the MRT Line-5 Northern Route, which combines underground and elevated systems as a state-of-the-art public transport to reduce traffic congestion in Dhaka city and surrounding areas, and to preserve the environment.

The proposed route of this project in the Gulshan-2 (Gulshan Circle) metro station area will have service line relocation work carried out under special arrangements from 8:00am on 26 January (Sunday).

During this time, there is a possibility of traffic jams in the lane heading towards Gulshan-2 intersection. As a result, people are requested to take enough time to get out and use possible alternative routes. The authorities have apologised for the temporary inconvenience.
