Border is fully secured: Adviser

Home Adviser Lt. Gen. (retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury yesterday said the border is com-pletely protected as the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel have always been put on alert at the country’s frontier line.
“BGB is always alert at the border. The border is fully secured,” he said.
He was replying to a question at the certificate distribution and closing ceremony of the 137th Survey and Settlement Training Course, 2024-25 for the BCS cadres (administration, police, forest and railway) and officers of Bangladesh Judicial Service at the central seminar room of Tejgaon Bhumi Bhaban here this afternoon.
The home adviser said they are taking steps on the border security issues and the people are always helping them in this connection.
He hoped that the help and cooperation of the people will always continue.
Jahangir assured, “No one will be able to come to this site (Bangladesh territory).
As long as we are alive, our blood will be shed but the border will be secured.”
Replying to another question, the home affairs advisor said there were no steps on border security measures earlier.
“Now that steps are being taken, problems are arising at the border. There is trouble at the bor-der.”
“The people are with us.
BGB is always alert. The border is completely secured,” he said.
Asked about the situation arising at the Chapainawabganj border, Jahangir said that the incident in Chapainawabganj happened over cutting of paddy and trees.
“There was trouble between the two sides.
People from both sides were injured. None of our border guards were injured, but some commoners on our side were injured. We did not see in the media that two BSF personnel were injured.
This was resolved in BGB-BSF discussions,” he said.
Senior Secretary of the Land Ministry A S M Saleh Ahmed, Land Reform Commission Chairman (Secretary) AJM Salahuddin Nagari, Land Appeal Board Chairman Muhamad Ibrahim, were pre-sent on the occasion, chaired by Director General (Additional Secretary of the Department of Land Records and Survey Dr Md Mahmud Hasan.
