A group of students of Dhaka University (DU) on Thursday staged a demonstration on the university campus demanding the resignation of Awami League-backed syndicate members, who opposed the July mass upsurge.
The agitated students staged the demonstration in front of the reregister building around 6:30 pm, aiming to prevent those who directly opposed the July uprising, including Dr Nizamul Hoque Bhuiyan, Dr Shitesh Chandra Bachar, Dr Bahlul Majnun Cunnu, from attending today’s senate session.
The three syndicate members could not be able to attend the session in the face of the protest.
They said that the 12th parliament was postponed following the July uprising, so why does the DU senate, comprised of pro-Awami League members, remain functional?
Later, DU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan said that they were going to hold the session without the participation of the three syndicate members.
