Death toll rises to 7 in vessel tragedy

Chandpur: The death toll in the tragic incident involving a fertilizer-laden vessel on the Meghna River in Chandpur rose to seven on Monday afternoon, after two people succumbed to their inju-ries while undergoing treatment at Chandpur Upazila Health Complex.
“They died while undergoing treatment at the hospital,” said Sudipta Roy, Additional Superinten-dent of Chandpur Police of the district.
Earlier, police had recovered five bodies and rescued three critically injured individuals from the vessel in the Ishanbala area.
Of the rescued people, two passed away, while the remaining injured person continues to receive treatment at the hospital.
The identities of the victims have not yet been confirmed, as authorities suspect they may have come under attack during the night.
Chandpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mohsin Uddin, along with officials from the River Police, is on-site to investigate the incident. The cause of the attack and further details remain un-der investigation.
This tragic event has left the local community in shock, as officials work to uncover the circum-stances surrounding the deaths.
