Four more people have died from dengue this year, bringing the year’s total toll to 545, as per data updated till Friday morning. All of the latest victims died in hospitals located in Dhaka South City Corporation region.
In the 24 hours till Friday morning, four people died from the mosquito-borne disease, while 241 new dengue patients were hospitalised over the same period, said a press release issued by the Directorate General Health Services (DGHS) on Friday afternoon.
Division-wise, Dhaka recorded the most hospitalisations with 61 dengue patients admitted, followed by Khulna with 44, Chattogram with 21, Barishal with 9, Mymensingh and Rajshahi with 8 each, Sylhet with 2 and Rangpur with one.
The division-focused data excludes figures from city corporations. In the 24 hours till Friday morning, 295 patients were discharged from hospitals as they reached the state of recovery, bringing the year’s total discharges to 95,861.
About 98,188 people have been hospitalised with dengue this year, where male patients account for 63.1% cases.
