A Dhaka court yesterday showed eight people, including former Law Minister Anisul Huq and former Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Lt Col (retd) Muhammad Faruk Khan arrested in various cases filed with the different police stations in the capital.
The other accused, who were shown arrested in the fresh cases yesterday, are former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, former Lawmaker Barrister Shahjahan Omar, Trina-mool BNP Chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury, former Director General (DG) of National Tele-communication Monitoring Centre (NTMC) Major General (sacked) Ziaul Ahsan, Jatiya Party leader Golam Kibria Titu and former Senior Secretary Mohibul Haque.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sharifur Rahman passed the orders as police produced the eight before the court and pleaded to show them arrested in the cases.
Of the eight, Anisul, Mamun and Ziaul Ahsan were shown arrested in the case lodged over the killing of Rabbi Matubbar in Mirpur-13 area on July 19. Anisul was also shown arrested in the case lodged over the killing of Nasir Hossain in Jatrabari area on July 23.
Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury was shown arrested in the case filed over Pervej Miah killing on August 5, while Barrister Shahjahan Omar was shown arrested in the case lodged over attempt to murder with the capital’s Banani Police Station.
Jatiya Party leader Titu was shown arrested in the case lodged over the murder of Al Amin in Hatirjheel area on August 5, whereas Muhammad Faruk Khan was shown arrested in the case lodged over the at-tack on the activists and supporters of BNP leader Mirza Abbas in 2015.
Former Senior Secretary Mohibul Haque was shown arrested in the case lodged over the killing of trader Abdul Wadud in New Market area while Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun was also shown arrested in the case lodged over the killing of Abdul Hannan in Mirpur Police Staff College area on August 5.
