Country becomes safe with BNCC’s help: Army Chief

Chief of Bangladesh Army Staff Lt Gen Waker-Uz-Zaman has lauded the role of the members of Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC), saying that the country reached a stable state with their help after the 5 August changeover.

The chief of army staff made the remarks in his brief speech after inaugurating the academic building of the BNCC Training Academy in Baipail area of Savar, on Thursday afternoon.

At the beginning of the inaugural ceremony, a group of skilled cadets of the BNCC Army, Navy, and Air Force branches presented a Guard of Honor to the chief of army staff.

After receiving the Guard of Honor and unveiling the inauguration plaque, the army chief planted a tree sapling at the BNCC Training Academy and participated in a special prayer seeking the welfare of the country and the nation.

Later, he delivered a directional speech to the military officers (Army, Navy and Air Force) working at the BNCC, BNCC officers (BNCCO), Prof Under Officers (PUO), Teacher Under Officers (TUO) and BNCC cadets.

In his speech, the chief of army staff remembered the BNPCC cadets who sacrificed their lives during the War of Liberation in 1971 as well as all of the brave freedom fighters and the sacrifices made by the students and the public during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in July-August.

He emphasised the crucial role of the BNPCC cadets in maintaining the country’s security and discipline and their leading role during any national crisis, alongside the Armed Forces.

He also praised the pioneering contributions of the BNPCC cadets both at the social and national levels and congratulated all members of the organisation.
