Natore: Two people were killed in a collision between a truck and a rickshaw van in Lalpur upazila of Natore.
The accident happened early Tuesday in the Kadimchilan area of of the upazila, said Ismail Hossain, of-ficer-in-charge of Banpara Highway Police Station.
The deceased were identified as van driver, Alfu, 55 of the local Dhanaidah village and truck driver Mo-stakim Sheikh, 23, of Morrelganj upazila of Bagerhat, said the OC,
The accident happened when the rickshaw van, coming from a side road, entered the Natore-Pabna highway and collided head-on with the oncoming truck. The impact killed Alfu on the spot, the police official said.
The truck lost control after the collision and crashed into a tree at the roadside. Fire service personnel rushed to the scene and rescued the truck driver, Mostakim, and his helper. They were taken to a local hospital, but Mostakim later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment, he added.
