BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has underscored the urgency of holding the national election immediately, saying that the net of conspiracy will spread extensively if the holding of the next general election is delayed.
“The patrons of the recently ousted autocratic regime are relentlessly hatching anti-state conspiracy with their masters both home and abroad. The net of the conspiracy will be widening if the holding of the national election is delayed,” Tarique said from London.
He said this while virtually addressing the inaugural session of BNP Chuadanga District unit conference on Saturday.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir inaugurated the conference at a football ground of the district town this morning.
Tarique also emphasised that the reforms can only be implemented through elected representatives.
The reforms proposed by the current government are also aligned with BNP’s vision, he said.
However, the delay in holding the election in the name of reforms may provide opportunities to the conspirators, he said.
He further said that resolving the country’s existing crises is possible only through holding a free, fair and credible election.
