An undergraduate student died from his injuries on Thursday morning while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital in the capital.
Md Abdullah was a fourth year student of political science at Government Shahid Suhrawardy College, confirmed the college’s Bangla department teacher Kazi Saiful Islam.
Abdullah was active in the July-August movement since the beginning, but failed to survive the Awami League-backed atrocious campaign against protesters.
He sustained a bullet injury to his head on the evening of 5 August, hours after dictator Sheikh Hasina fled the country, as Awami League-backed forces attacked a procession of anti-fascist protesters in front of the Bangshal Police Station in the capital.
He lay unconscious for about three hours, before pedestrians took him to Mitford Hospital and then to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where he underwent a three-hour operation.
He was released the following morning, but an undetected infection in the head precipitated a severe pain, forcing him to get readmitted at DMCH.
Another surgery proved futile, and he was admitted to the Combined Military Hospital, where he succumbed to the injury on Thursday.
