Staff Reporter:

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) yesterday allowed a plea of the prosecution to interrogate for-mer director general of the National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC) sacked Major Gen-eral Ziaul by its probe body for a day over genocides and crimes against humanity committed while try-ing to quell the student-led July-August mass-uprising.
The three-judge panel of the ICT led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder passed the order allow-ing a plea filed and moved by Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam.
“There is no limit of allegations against Ziaul. We have received numerous allegations against him. He has involvement with numerous murders and enforced disappearances. The ICT probe body has found many evidences against him. He is now behind bars and we need to interrogate him to know further in this regard,” the chief prosecutor told newsmen later.
Advocate Muhammad Tajul Islam said he had pleaded for allowing the probe agency to interrogate the accused for a day, which was accepted.
