Yunus to address World Leaders Summit at COP29 today

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus will address the Opening Session of the World Leaders Cli-mate Action Summit at the Conference of the Parties-29 (COP29), today.
“The Chief Adviser will deliver his speech at the Opening Session of the World Leaders Climate Action Summit at COP29 expectedly between 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm (Bangladesh time) today,” the chief adviser’s press wing said.
The COP29 began in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, yesterday. Prof Yunus is now on a four-day tour to Baku to join the climate meet.
Besides, Chief Adviser Prof Yunus passed a busy day at the opening day of the COP29 in Baku yester-day.
The Bangladesh interim government chief and the 2006 Nobel Peace Laureate met at least 20 top leaders of different countries across the globe and heads of international agencies, according to a message re-ceived here.
Prof Yunus met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish First Lady at the summit of the world leaders at the COP29 venue.
He met UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahiyan on the sidelines of the global climate summit too.
Also, the Chief Adviser met and greeted Shehbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mohamed Muizzu, the President of the Maldives, Tshering Tobgay, the Prime Minister of Bhutan and Ramchandra Paudel, the President of Nepal.
Among others, Prof Yunus met the Prime Minister of Belgium, President of Ghana, Prime Minister of Bosnia Herzegovina, President of Rwanda, Prime Minister of Albania, President of Montenegro, Prime Minister of Barbados, Vice Presidents of Brazil and Iran, President of FIFA and Director General of IOM.
Besides, Ahmed Eltayeb, the Grand Imam of the Al-Azhar Al Sharif, called on Prof Yunus at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Baku this morning.
The Chief Adviser arrived in Baku by a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight around 5:15 pm local time yesterday (Monday).
