Nahid: Action will be taken against media outlets promoting banned organizations

Staff Reporter:

Adviser for Posts, Telecommunications, Information, and Broadcasting Nahid Islam has said that measures will be taken against those in the media who promote banned organizations and individuals convicted of genocide and fascist actions.

He shared his stance in a post on his Facebook page Wednesday night.

Islam criticized what he described as a dual approach by the Awami League, saying: “The Awami League has always had two faces. On one side, it uses terrorist, fascist, and brutal forces to carry out killings, disappearances, murders, and oppression. On the other, it employs intellectuals, academics, journalists, and cultural activists to create narratives and legitimacy for its actions.”

He further said that notorious propagandists from this team are working to bring leaders of the banned Chhatra League, known for violent acts, back into the public sphere, with support from various media platforms aiming to normalize these efforts.

He expressed concern over efforts to depict the Awami League and Chhatra League as legitimate opposition voices, saying: “They are acting as if the Awami League fell through regular means and is now the opposition party.”

The adviser also said that a “mass killing” occurred in Bangladesh in July and August, leading to the deaths of students, children, women, and workers, with many others permanently disabled.

He accused the Awami League of continuing to threaten the public and stressed that it stands on trial for such alleged acts.

In his post, Nahid said: “The Awami League fell on the path of blood. The sooner its sympathizers accept this and work on behalf of the people, the better for everyone. We know this struggle continues, and we are always ready.”
