Onion import duty withdrawn

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has fully withdrawn the customs duty and regulatory duty on the import of onion, to curb the rising prices of essential kitchen item.

This information was revealed through a letter signed by NBR Chairman Md Abdur Rahman Khan on Wednesday.

Earlier, on October 31, the Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission had proposed the complete withdrawal of the existing 5% customs duty on onion imports to control its price.
