Jatiya Party central office set on fire as activists, students clash

Staff Reporter:

Students, united under the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement platform, on Thursday evening set ablaze Jatiya Party’s central office at Bijoynagar area in the capital, following attacks on the students allegedly by the party members.

To avenge the attacks on students, a large group converged at Bijoynagar and after street fights they managed to drive away Jatiya Party leaders and activists from the spot.

Earlier, Hasnat Abdullah, a key coordinator of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, announced a march to eliminate the Jatiya Party members, branding them as “national traitors.”

The call on a facebook post came, after news broke out that Jatiya Party’s members had allegedly beaten students with local weapons and were patrolling the Bijoynagar area.
