Economy is rebounding steadily: Finance adviser

Staff Reporter:

Finance and Commerce Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed on Thursday said Bangladesh’s economy is rebounding steadily due to the different measures being taken by the interim government to infuse dynamism in the overall economic activities.

“We’re taking different initiatives for developing the country’s domestic industry and implementation of such initiatives is also going on alongside. Our foreign exchange reserves are also increasing,” he said while speaking at a special review meeting at the Ministry of Commerce conference room in the city, said a press release.

Top business leaders and concerned senior officials of the ministry took part in the review meeting.

Salehuddin said, “It is not possible to do everything within three months but we are working. Whether it is today or tomorrow, the political government will come to power. We will work for the country as long as we have time.”

He also said that the government is giving priority to the food, energy, fertiliser and pesticide sectors.

“We are also trying to develop the private sector,” he added.

During the meeting, the business leaders appreciated the steps taken by the government to develop the domestic industry.

They called for opening a one-stop service center for the overall development of the private sector.
