Woman killed in ‘gunfight’ at Pallabi

A 26-year-old woman, identified as Ayesha Akter, was fatally shot on Wednesday afternoon during a reported gunfight between rival drug peddler groups vying for control in Dhaka’s Pallabi area.
Md Adil, Inspector at Pallabi Police Station, reported that the gunfight broke out around 3:30 pm near the Lalmati Tempo stand in Mirpur-11, allegedly to create panic in the area.
Ayesha, who was inside a nearby building, was shot in the head when she looked out through the win-dow of a staircase, resulting in her immediate death.
Police have since recovered her body and sent it to the local hospital morgue for post-mortem examina-tion. An investigation is underway into the incident.
