Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) acting chairman Tarique Rahman has stood by families of martyrs who lost their lives during the July-August mass uprising in Narsingdi, expressing solidarity and offering condolences.
A delegation from “Amra BNP Poribar” met with bereaved families in the district on Thursday.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi represented Tarique Rahman, conveying his heartfelt sympathies to the families affected by the violence.
Around 11am, he visited the family of Junaid Al Habib, who was killed in an attack by the Chhatra League on 5 August. He was a local coordinator for the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and a dedicated activist of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal.
Later on, the delegation visited the families of other martyrs, including Rahat, Hasan, and Rustam, in the Raipura area.
During the visit, Rizvi emphasised the urgent need for justice for these victims. “The cohorts of fascist and dictator, who seized power with the blood of martyrs, are still lurking in the shadows.”
The delegation also met with the family of 15-year-old martyr Tahmid Tamim at Chinishpur village.
Additionally, the team paid their respects at the grave of martyr Siam, who was killed by police during the uprising in Shibpur, offering prayers at his grave.
Speaking at a wayside rally, Rizvi underscored the party’s commitment to stand by the families of the victims of the mass uprising. “These martyrs have shown us the true path, and we will continue to honour their sacrifice.”
Through this visit, the BNP aims to reaffirm its support for the families affected by the political violence and to advocate for a fair and just electoral process in the wake of recent turmoil.
