Bangladesh recorded eight more deaths from dengue in the past 24 hours till Thursday morning.
With the fatalities, the toll rose to 234 since 1 January, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Besides, in a 24-hour span, 1,100 more patients were hospitalised with the viral fever, taking the caseload to 47,050.
Of the deaths, four were reported from the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), two from the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), and one each from Dhaka division (outside the city corporations) and Chattogram division.
Among the dengue patients, 242 were admitted to hospitals under the DNCC, 184 in Dhaka division, and 160 under the DSCC.
On 12 October, the country logged nine deaths from dengue in the last 24 hours, marking the highest number of fatalities from the viral infection in a single day so far this year.
Dengue claimed 1,705 lives in 2023, making it the deadliest year on record. The DGHS also recorded 3,21,179 cases and 3,18,749 recoveries last year.
