Successful test operation of Mirpur-10 metro rail station completed

Staff Reporter:

The Managing Director of Dhaka Metro Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), Abdur Rouf on Thursday said that the test operation of the Mirpur-10 metro rail station has been successfully completed.

He said: “Everything is satisfactory. The system of every parameter is also okay,” while speaking to the Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).

The Mirpur-10 and Kazipara stations had been vandalized during the anti-discrimination student movement on July 19.

Abdur Rouf reported that two trains were used to run through the Mirpur-10 station, with the first train arriving at 6:10am and the second at 6:20am. A technical team was present to observe the test operation.

“We have successfully conducted the final test for reopening the Mirpur-10 metro station after repairing and replacing partially and fully damaged equipment,” he added. Rouf emphasized that the station’s repair was expedited due to commuter demand.

He said that the cost of equipment repair and replacement at Mirpur-10 station would be higher than that of Kazipara station due to the extensive damage it sustained. Vandalism affected all aspects of the station, including ticket vending machines and passenger entry systems, leading to its closure for 37 days.

After taking oath on August 8, the interim government initiated steps to resume metro rail operations on August 25, excluding the Mirpur-10 and Kazipara stations. Kazipara station was reopened on September 20 following necessary repairs.
