A delegation of Bangladesh Buddhist Federation paid a courtesy call on Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman at the army headquarters on Thursday.
‘Shuvo Prabarona’, the second largest religious festival of Buddhists, will be celebrated on October 16 next, said an ISPR press release.
On this occasion, Buddhists’ communities organized week-long programmes in Buddhist villages, Janapaths and Vihars, the release added.
In order to maintain peaceful atmosphere, law and order and harmony during the festival, the Buddhist delegation met the army chief and invited him to participate in the festival.
During the meeting, the army chief promised to provide financial and security cooperation for celebration of ‘Shuvo Prabarona’ and “Kathin Chibar Dan” (yellow robe offering ceremony) in Chittagong Hill Tracts as well as in plain lands.
