A Dhaka court yesterday placed Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, former adviser and principal secretary of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, and Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, former secretary of the Youth and Sports Ministry on remand in separate murder cases.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain passed the order as police produced Naser and Mesbah before the court and pleaded to place them on 10-day remand each in the two separate cases.
Of the two, Naser was placed on four-day remand in the case lodged with the capital’s Paltan Police Sta-tion over the killing of BNP activist Mokbul, while Mesbah was placed on three-day remand in the case filed over the murder of Jubo Dal leader Shamim.
Detective Branch (DB) of police in separate raids arrested Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury and Mesbah Uddin Ahmed from different parts of the capital in the wee hours of yesterday.
