Sumanganj: Three people died as lightning strikes hit them during a thunderstorm in Sumanganj district on Sunday.
In Doarabazar upazila, two men died being struck by lightning when they were fishing in a haor.
The victims were Md. Jalal Mia, son of Chan Mia, and Md. Jasim Uddin, son of Nurul Haque, both from the same village.
Chairman of Pandargao Union Parishad Md. Abdul Wahid confirmed the deaths.
Besides, a fisherman, Sharif Mia,40, son of Abdul Latif Mia from Kalaguja village in Jamalganj upazila, was killed by lightning.
According to local sources, Sharif had gone to the haor for fishing at night when a thunderstorm hit the area.
Officer-in-Charge of Jamalganj Police Station S.M. Kamal Hossain confirmed the incident.
