Killed in line of duty
Lt Tanzim laid to rest in Tangail

A Correspondent
Tangail: Lieutenant Tanzim Sarwar, a young army officer, was laid to rest yesterday in Tangail as he was stabbed to death by robbers on Monday night in Chokoria, Cox’s Bazar. His funeral prayer was held at the Boali Madrasa field on Tuesday after Asor prayers, before his body was buried at a local graveyard.
Earlier, at approximately 3:30 PM, a military helicopter carrying the officer’s body landed at the district helipad, where senior military officials received it, along with some family members. The body was then transported directly to his village in Korer Betka, where an emotional scene unfolded as family members mourned the loss of their only son and brother.
The officer was reportedly attacked while pursuing a gang of robbers during an operation in the Maijpa-ra area. His injuries were severe, and he was declared dead upon arrival at Malumghat Memorial Hospi-tal.
Tanzim completed his SSC at Tangail’s Bindubashini Government Boys’ High School and completed his higher secondary education at Pabna Cadet College before commissioning into Bangladesh Army on June 8, 2022. Family and community members are now calling for the arrest and exemplary punishment of those responsible for his death.
