Later on, the court sent them to jail.

On Wednesday night, 32-year-old Tofazzal was beaten to death by a group of students.

They caught him from the dormitory and beat him in two phases. Later, he was declared dead at a hospital, said DU Proctor Mohammad Saifuddin Ahmed.

The university authorities filed a case with Shahbagh police station over the incident, detained the six students, and handed them over to police.

Expressing shock at the incident, the proctor said they formed a seven-member probe body to look into it.

Meanwhile, in a press statement on Friday, Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media and public relations) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said they are investigating the case very seriously.
