Jamaat urges all to stand by flood victims

Staff Reporter:

Jamaat-e-Islami Central Working Committee member and its Dhaka north city unit Secretary Muhammad Rezaul Karim has urged everyone irrespective of party affiliations and professions to come forward to stand by flood victims.

He made the appeal while visiting the temporary medical camps set up for flood victims at Farasganj union in Chandraganj of Lakshmipur on Friday.

“This year’s flood was not natural. India opened the gates of Dumbur dam in Tripura. The opening of the gates has sent a torrent of upstream water flooding Bangladesh, inundating the bordering districts,” he said.

“Over a million people were displaced and thousands were stranded. Cattle were washed away.”

Rezaul said Jamaat has been working for the sake of humanity since its establishment.
