Journalists Mozammel Haque Babu and Shyamal Dutta, who were detained by locals while allegedly attempting to cross into India illegally through the Dhobaura border in Mymensingh on Monday, have been handed over to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) by the Dhobaura police station.
Dhobaura Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Chan Mia confirmed that the four detainees were transferred to DMP officials at around 3pm on Monday
Later, they were subsequently taken to Dhaka.
Babu is the chief editor of Ekattor TV and Shyamal is the editor of Bhorer Kagoj.
Locals apprehended four individuals, including the journalists, along with a car at the border and turned them over to law enforcement.
The two others were detained with them.
They are- Ekattor TV Senior Reporter Mahbubur Rahman and the driver of the car, Selim.
