Ex-land minister’s son arrested with firearms, drugs

Shirhan Sharif Tomal, son of former land minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif, has been arrested with firearms and drugs.

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested him from Ishwardi upazila of Pabna on Thursday night.

An imported pistol, a magazine, four rounds of bullets and 10 yaba tablets have been seized from Shirhan, said RAB-12 officials on Friday.

The RAB also seized Shirhan’s car during the time.

RAB sources said that Shirhan was a fugitive, accused in a case for attacking students during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
