The police conducted a drive at the residence of Md Shah Kamal, former senior secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, in the capital’s Mohammadpur area on Friday evening and seized more than Tk3 crore in cash along with foreign currencies.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) raided the house located at Block-F on Babar Road, according to the DMP media division.
Then, the police found Tk3,01,10,166 in cash, and US dollar 3,000, Malaysian ringgit 1,320, Saudi riyal 2,969, Singapore dollar 4,122, Australian dollar 1,915, Korean yuan 35,000, and Chinese yuan 199, which are equivalent to Tk10,03,306.
Besides, the police found prize bonds worth Tk74,400.
Shah Kamal retired from government service on 29 June 2020.
