Tanjim Ahmed Sohel Taj, a former state minister for home affairs, has called for a fair investigation into the Pilkhana carnage that took place 15 years ago.
“It’s time to tell the truth and truth is the greatest power,” he wrote on his verified Facebook account on Thursday.
Sohel Taj was serving as the state minister while Sahara Khatun was the minister for home affairs during the mutiny of the erstwhile Bangladesh Rifles (BDR), which was later renamed the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
Seventy-four people, including 57 army officials, were killed in the mutiny in the capital’s Pilkhana headquarters of the BDR on 25 and 26 February in 2009.
In his Facebook post, Sohel Taj wrote that the propaganda involving him in the Pilkhana carnage without understanding and any proof is not right in any way.
“I was shocked as well and stunned like all sensible people of Bangladesh…I also want to know the truth and want a fair investigation. I would like to share my experience and observations if it is investigated again in future,” he said.
