The interim government on Wednesday appointed Dr Abdur Rahman Khan, secretary of the Financial Institutions Division, as the new chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
Earlier, the contractual appointment of Abu Hena Md. Rahmatul Muneem as NBR chairman was can-celled.
After the political change in the country, many of the officials and employees of NBR were demanding the resignation of Muneem. The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification regarding the cancellation of Muneem’s contract earlier yesterday.
Earlier this year, Muneem’s contract was extended for two years for the third time by the previous gov-ernment. At that time, he also served as the Senior Secretary of the Internal Resources Division (IRD) of the Ministry of Finance.
