Education ministry cuts summer vacation, retains Saturday off

Staff Reporter:

The Education Ministry has shortened the summer vacation for educational institutions by one week and decided to maintain the weekly holidays on Saturday alongside Friday.

The educational institutions, scheduled to reopen on 2 July after the current summer vacation, will be resumed on 26 June following a decision of the educational institution.

The education ministry argues that the number of annual teaching days has significantly decreased this year and would further reduce if Saturday remains a weekly holiday.

It has decided to retain Saturday as a weekly day off but has reduced the summer vacation by one week, said a source of the Education Ministry.
