Issuing warning Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General (DG) M Khurshid Hossain yesterday said that stern action will be taken against those who will obstruct and create barrier to come the voters for casting their votes on Election Day.
“It is illegal to block or obstruct the voters from voting. Those who will do this illegal work will be se-verely suppressed by the law and order agencies,” he told this while exchanging views with the journal-ists after visiting various polling centers in the capital and inspecting the security measures.
M Khurshid Hossain, also an Additional Inspector General of Police (Addl-IGP) said, January 7, the 12th national election, adding, “We are sure that we have an excellent coordination. We will be able to complete the 12th Jatiya Sangsad election in a fair and peaceful environment through team work.”
“We are working in three phases on the occasion of election. The pre-election status ends yesterday. The election will be held today. Our job is to ensure that those who come to vote in this election enter into the polling station safely.
Ensuring that you can vote and return home safely. Ensuring the security of those involved in election work and present at polling stations,” he added.
Replying to a question, the elite anti crime forces chief said, that there was no such threat centering the election and no fear that people will not be able to come to the polling stations. “Not only the RAB forc-es but also all the law enforcement agencies are ready. So far the law and order situation across the country is normal. I think voters will be able to come to the polling stations without any problem,” he said.
The RAB DG said that after the election, there is a possibility for conflict between the winners or losers but the RAB has adequate arrangements to ensure that the law and order situation will prevail normal, so there is no reason to fear or panic.
