The High Court (HC) yesterday deferred for a week the hearing on a rule about BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s bail in a case lodged over attack on Chief Justice’s official residence.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Md Salim and Justice Shahed Nuruddin passed the or-der, allowing a time plea filed by Fakhrul’s counsel.
The High Court on December 17 had set yesterday to hold hearing on the rule issued on December 7.
Police filed the case with Ramna Police Station over the attack and vandalizing chief justice’s residence on October 28. A total of 59 leaders and activists of BNP including Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and standing committee member Mirza Abbas were made accused in the case. Fakhrul was arrested from his Gulshan flat on October 29 and was shown arrested in the case.
