Staff Reporter:
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said that the attacks being carried out on independent candidates allegedly by Awami League workers and supporters are isolated incidents.
He said, “During the election, such isolated incidents (attacks) may take place. I think there is no reason to boycott the election of independent candidates, boat candidates or candidates of other parties as well.”
Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, came up with the comments while speaking at a press conference at the political office of the party president in Dhanmondi on Thursday afternoon.
Replying to a question, the AL General Secretary said, if any candidate’s income has increased abnormally, action will be taken against them.
“Even if no action can be taken at this moment, action will be taken after the election,” he said.
