Without prior notice, BRAC Bank suspended cash withdrawals in foreign currency by cardholders abroad.
As a result, a number of clients traveling abroad depending on the Brac Bank card are facing severe problem. At least five clients of BRAC Bank complained of their suffering in the last two days.
A message on December 24, said “Dear customer, from December 24, 2023, all cash withdrawals out-side the country with BRAC Bank cards have been suspended.”
The notification further said that within the travel quota, any valid purchase can be made through POS and e-commerce.
A top official of the bank’s retail banking unit said that BRAC Bank is always encouraging digital trans-actions and electronic payments.
Besides, as there is no record of cash withdrawal, this decision has been taken for the safety and custom-er protection of the bank. But the client can do electronic transactions and purchases.
