Staff Reporter:
Election Commissioner Anisur Rahman has threatened to take stern action if anyone distributes leaflets, discouraging voters to go to their respective polling centres during the national election scheduled for January 7.
The EC commissioner said this while talking to reporters at the Nirbachon Bhaban in Agargaon area of Dhaka on Saturday.
Meanwhile, as part of the non-cooperation movement of BNP, party’s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi along with leaders and activists distributed leaflets among people in Dhaka’s Elephant Road and Bailey Road area calling upon them to boycott the January 7 national election.
Rahman said that the commission is working independently and it is also actively taking measures to conduct the 12th general election in a free, fair, and impartial manner.
“No one has rights to disrupt the election. We instantly will take action if we see anyone distributing leaflets discouraging people from going to their respective polling centres,” the Election Commissioner said.
